Our Oak Bazaar journey started in 2006 when we travelled around India and stumbled across some unique intricate stationery and paper. It was truly love at first sight, we bought beautiful paper and gifts from our travels back home to Australia for our own personal use.
We used the paper at any chance we got, for any occasion, we even framed some in our house. We started to get comments from family and friends who wanted to now where we got it and they wanted some, so we decided to start sourcing more products and went to the general public to see what they thought.
The products we sourced and feature on our website are from talented Artisans from different parts of india who design and make themselves. We wanted to ensure that most of our products were sourced straight from the artisans and we were in turn supporting small communities or up and coming artists and designers from India. We don’t sell large quantities of our products simply because they are not mass produced in large factories. And we like it that way.
India is a country of contrasts and the products we have sourced tap into its culture, colour, people and history. Every time we travel to India, we meet someone new, with a story and discover a whole new world.
Its so exciting to know that there is so much more to discover, more products to introduce you to and a history and culture which can be easily reflected in stationery and share with others is a gift in itself.
So, why stationery from India?
Well ,we simply fell in love with the art of paper many years ago and decided we wanted to share our discoveries. We hope you enjoy the products as much as we do.
